A is most definitely for Afro.

I spend a lot of my day looking at design. Design that I love for my home, design that inspires me to create cute baby clothes for Nohi Kids, design that I want to wear....

Most recently, I have been collecting ideas for art and other eye-candy that I want to fill a baby's room. (Yes, I do have better things to do than start decorating a nursery, such as step one: get pregnant...but, I can't help myself)

Today  I stumbled across this that I love so much by DP Sullivan.

Nohi Kids - Softest organic baby clothes. Ever.

No, really. They are.

I am talking the softest, most scrumptious and cozy organic baby clothes ever.

Do you know that we created our fabric combination ourselves?
Start with a little organic cotton, throw in the softest bamboo, and then a touch of spandex to keep your baby's wardrobe fresh
(it's true--that spandex is why it holds up so well in the laundry!)

Add a baby to the softest organic baby clothes on the planet and this is what you get.

Old and wise.

I get it. We all loooove owls. We are just hootin' and hollerin' for these freaking things.

Give me an O! Give me a W!....okay, okay, you get the idea.

This love affair has been hot and heavy for years, and it's showing no signs of fizzling.
And, that makes this owl cheerleader very giddy.

This deep love means that I can keep making goodies for Nohi Kids that are covered with these little buggers because you all keep buying them! (And, thank you very much for that)

You can see our popular owl bodysuits here
and our matching owl blankets, here.

More people that I love have made babies (which I very much appreciate); and one almost-momma said that she is going to do the nursery in owls.

Well, of course you are. You and about 84,000 other owl-obsessed freaks...
But, great. I am thrilled. Fabulous choice. Adorable. YES YES YES to OWLS.

There are endless options out there for hoot-filled cuteness.

Under the Sea

I am weirdly obsessed with bathrooms.

Apparently when visiting other homes as a kid, the first place I had to check out was not the room that housed the Pound Puppies or Barbie's Dream House, but the potty?

What an odd child.

I do vividly remember being impressed with my grandmother's bathroom decor--not a seashell soap out of place, embroidered hand towels so perfectly hung that I'm certain that they had been freshly ironed...and, that vanity!
Oh my
.

I was mesmerized by the collection of lipsticks, perfumes, her signature pearl colored nail polish, the magnifying mirror... and, of course, all meticulously arranged and ready for the Vanity Hall of Fame.

Barbie, your house ain't got nothin' on my Mommom's.

Now, all grown up with my own home and bathroom, naturally this is where I want the decorating to begin. But, good LORD does prettifying a new home take much longer than you had anticipated!

In our defense, we've been slightly busy running some businesses, and planning a wedding! (not to worry, much more on that later...do not get me started on BHLDN.)

For now, the glorious bathroom....

We started with this piece of art disguised as a shower curtain, by Thomas Paul.

Then, that reminded me of how much I love this book and this book.

So, without getting too "theme-y" (at the request of the other person that shares my bathroom), I started my hunt. And, found this, this, this, these, these and this might come in handy since we just ripped our current hook out of the door.
love.

These are supposed to be little trinket dishes, but how cool would it be to create some kind of sea urchin wall art instead?

Artfully arranged on the back of the potty, of course.
No, we don't have any kids yet, why do you ask?
I promise I won't iron them.

Okay, fine. Maybe it's slightly theme-y.

We have one more little bathroom off of our laundry room appropriately named "The Poo Closet" because it's sole purpose is to hide the litter box.
But, watch out Gigi...your days as the only girl in the house with her own bathroom are numbered.

My dog is a total diva.

She acts like the very unobtrusive raindrops that gently touch her back are more like lightening bolts or razor blades falling from the sky.

But, aww....what a poor, wet, little baby. I understand. So, I bought her a vest. She needed it.

And, at least I didn't get her this one.

In her defense though, it has been pretty wet around here. So much so, that today we have a "local severe weather alert and urban stream flood advisory" for Oakland. And, this from the National Weather Service. So, don't laugh. It's super scary. (insert sarcasm from this East Coast girl.)

And, sadly my rain gear is not quite as stylish as my dog's.

Currently I am sporting an 8 year old ripped, big, orange jacket as my daily rain protection. I resemble either a pumpkin or a crossing guard and it's certainly time for an upgrade.

We can start here. Simple and hooded from Echo.

But, I really like this one. $196 (and on sale from $385!) for a rain coat? Of course that's the one I want. I have no idea where my dog's diva behavior comes from....

For kids, how about buying a pattern from Fabric Closet and some laminated fabric from Mimi's Fabrics and making your own?

Or, there are some seriously cute options from Viking Kids and Blue Peach

Your rain get-up is not complete without some rainboots. Check out these stylin' wellies from Funky Wellington Boots in the UK.

Mystery Baby Bumps.

If you know me, you know that I am obsessed with all things baby.

Baby clothes (organic baby clothes from Nohi Kids, of course) and baby shoes ( I am the #1 fan of Livie and Luca--you don't get cuter than these shoes).

Plus, baby fingers and baby yawns. Chunky baby wrists and dimpled baby buns. That little swirl of silky baby hair at the nape of the neck.....okay, you get the idea.

So, imagine my delight when, in the span of about 3 weeks, I find out that not one, but two, of my buddies are cooking up some babies for me! And, a bonus-- I get to be an aunt to one, so I am hardly containing my annoying, overzealous excitement.

Now, both of these goofballs are waiting to find out their baby's gender. They want to be surprised. Okay, fine. Whatever. But, can I at least find out? I would sleep better at night.

They are both in the midst of getting their gender neutral nurseries ready for the big surprise. So, naturally I am on the hunt for some ideas to inspire them.

Check out these blankets from Orangeberry Baby. Not really full-on nursery bedding, but some adorable prints to get the creative-but-gotta-stay-neutral juices flowing.

Or, how about some removable wall stickers from Kinky Wall. (they're not that kind of kinky, you dirty birds)

I bet it would be fun to have an Aunt Bucky. Afterall, she does make super cool tape deck bedding.

Other contenders are Olli and Lime, Dwell, and last but certainly not least our friend, Kukunest.

Ollie and Lime calls this "Charlie". I call it cute.

Fish and pebbles are for girls too.

Ok, it's not crib bedding. But what kid doesn't love a carnival?

And, one last thing. I saw this idea recently in my beloved Design Sponge.
Love it. I am saving this for my kid's room (that I would start creating now if I could. What can I say, I'm a planner?)
